Dr Dennis Benedict General Practitioner

Dr Dennis Benedict is a British qualified General Practitioner who also completed a Bachelor of Science whilst studying medicine at St George’s Hospital Medical School in London. He moved to Adelaide after completing his general practice training.

Dr Dennis has been working in Para Hills for more than 10 years, and understands the needs and medical issues of people who live in the area. He is passionate about providing the highest quality of care for each and every patient. Dr Dennis has a special interest in diabetes, aged care and the management of complex medical problems as well as chronic diseases.

Dr Dennis is married with two children, and enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing the sport of archery.

Dr Brian Symon General Practitioner

Dr Brian Symon commenced work in 1978 as a rural General Practitioner where he worked for 17 years. He then worked as a Lecturer at the University of Adelaide before returning full time to general practice.

Dr Brian’s special interest is the care of mothers and babies. In particular, Dr Brian helps with advice on feeding, sleep, growth and behaviour in babies and children. In the community he is best known for his work as The Babysleep Doctor and resolving sleep problems in children.

Internationally, Dr Brian works with a group Fed is Best Foundation aimed at supporting the well-being of newborn babies at risk of inadequate feeding.

Dr Simon Vanlint General Practitioner

Dr Simon Vanlint grew up and completed his medical training in Adelaide. He spent 10 years working as a rural GP in Barmera, where he also gave anaesthetics, helped care for major trauma patients and delivered babies. After this he spent 4 years working in England, where he helped set up a health service for refugees and asylum seekers. After returning to Adelaide, from 2004 until 2015 Dr Simon blended a teaching and research role with the Adelaide Medical School with ongoing work as a General Practitioner. This has included time spent working with Aboriginal Australians and homeless people.

Since 2015, Dr Simon has concentrated on clinical GP work and has a wide range of professional interests. In particular, he has additional skills and experience in musculoskeletal medicine (sports medicine, osteoporosis, vitamin D), dermatology (including skin cancer) and the management of diabetes.

Outside of medicine he enjoys spending time with his growing family, especially being a grandfather, cycling, walking, travel, and the occasional glass of red wine (for medicinal purposes only, of course!). He also volunteers for the anti-slavery charity International Justice Mission, and teaches a budgeting and financial management course designed by Christians Against Poverty.

Dr Jamilah Bardai General Practitioner

Having graduated from Norwood High School Adelaide and then Monash University Victoria, Dr Jamilah Bardai returned to Malaysia to complete her internship at Kuala Lumpur Hospital. Dr Jamilah spent some years in rural Sarawak and experienced the Malaysian Flying Doctor service. Private practice began with looking after employees and families of oil company Shell in Sarawak for 3 years. Dr Jamilah returned to Kuala Lumpur and worked in private practice for the next 20 years. She completed a Diploma in Dermatology, Wales University Cardiff and a Membership of the Royal College of Physicians Ireland, in Occupational Health.

Dr Jamilah has a special interest in women’s health, children’s health, and chronic diseases. She also has an interest in dermatology and occupational health.

Dr Kavitha Sujeeve General Practitioner

Dr Kavitha Sujeeve migrated to Australia over 10 years ago with her husband and two young daughters. Dr Kavitha originally came from Sri Lanka, but went on to complete her undergraduate medical degree in India and part of her mental health postgraduate training in Oxfordshire, England. Dr Kavitha continued to work in mental health speciality in Australia until 2014 when she decided to take up general practice training in rural SA. Dr Kavitha was fortunate to work in beautiful areas like Yankallila and Strathalbyn until she completed her Fellowship in 2017.
Dr Kavitha has special interest in mental health and elderly patient care. Dr Kavitha is also interested in women’s health, children and adolescent health.
Outside of her work, Dr Kavitha loves to travel and spend time with her family.

Dr Norah Chidothe General Practitioner

Dr Norah Chidothe was born and raised in Zimbabwe where she completed her medical degree at the University of Zimbabwe in 2004. She then moved to England with her husband where she lived and worked for 15 years. Dr Norah completed her GP training gaining clinical experience in several specialities, a Masters of Science in Critical Care and Postgraduate Diploma in Dermatology. She moved to Adelaide with her husband and three children in 2021.

Dr Norah is passionate about providing quality care to all her patients. She enjoys all aspects of general practice and has particular interest in urgent care, women’s health, dermatology, skin cancer, aged care and mental health.

Outside of work, Dr Norah enjoys travelling, spending time with her family, hosting parties, cooking and reading. One day Dr Norah hopes to write her own book.

Dr Elizabeth Waugh General Practitioner

Dr Elizabeth Waugh studied medicine at University College Cork, Ireland graduating in 2007. She successfully completed a four-year vocational general practice training scheme in Ireland, graduating in 2012. Prior to studying medicine, Dr Elizabeth also qualified with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and worked in this field for a few years.

Dr Elizabeth moved to Australia in 2013. She previously spent a year living in Australia prior to embarking on her career change to medicine. She very much enjoyed this experience and welcomed the opportunity to return to Australia. Dr Elizabeth was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2013, and has worked at our practice since then.

Dr Elizabeth enjoys providing comprehensive whole person- centred care in her day to day practice. She also values the continuity of care provided to patients in general practice and enjoys getting to know her patients and their families. Dr Elizabeth likes the broad scope of the speciality of general practice but she also has a special interest in children’s health, women’s health, mental health, and preventative healthcare.

Outside of work, her interests include music, travel, cycling, enjoying nature and the great outdoors.

Dr Mai Nguyen General Practitioner

In 2005, Dr Mai Nguyen completed her Bachelor of Science and Graduate Diploma and Master of Clinical Audiology at Melbourne University. Dr Mai briefly worked as an Audiologist at Australian Hearing whilst completing the Graduate Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Griffith University in Gold Coast, Queensland. From 2010, Dr Mai worked as a doctor in various medical centres and hospitals throughout Australia.

Dr Mai and her husband have worked as locum doctors to provide health and emergency services to rural communities and hospitals. In 2014, they settled in South Australia so that Dr Mai could complete her specialist training in general practice. Her special interests include women’s and children’s health, chronic disease management, mental health, and refugee and indigenous health. Dr Mai would like to do further training in Antenatal Care and Minor Cosmetic procedures.

Besides her work interests, Dr Mai enjoys spending time with her family, acrylic painting and baby photography.

Dr Alicia Stevenson General Practitioner

After graduating from Flinders University in 2012, Dr Alicia Stevenson commenced working at Flinders Medical Centre where she also completed her Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She completed her GP Fellowship with the RACGP in 2019.

Dr Alicia enjoys all aspects of general practice with a a special interest in women’s health and paediatrics. She performs contraceptive device insertion/removals and offers obstetric shared care during pregnancy in conjunction with the hospital.

Dr Cheuk Mun (Carmen) Au is a General Practitioner who has attained FRACGP in Australia. Dr Carmen completed a Geriatric Fellowship in the USA in 2023, and completed her American Boards of Family Medicine in the USA in 2022. Dr Carmen has relocated to Adelaide from Queensland. In her spare time, Dr Carmen loves to travel and explore new countries and cultures.

Dr Eben qualified as a General Practitioner in South Africa in 1989 and worked in a large group practice in Johannesburg. He and his family migrated to Australia in 2010 and has been working at our practice since.

Dr Eben runs skin cancer clinics; looking for and treating skin cancer.

Dr Erin Oliver-Landry completed her Medical Degree at Flinders University in 2009 and returned to Canada where she completed her GP training in 2013.  Family commitments brought Dr Erin back to Adelaide in 2014.

Dr Erin has a strong interest in adolescent health, mental health, women’s health (including antenatal shared care) and performs IUD insertions regularly.  Dr Erin has also completed extra training in Hepatitis B and C management.

Dr Qi-Zheng Ong General Practitioner

Dr Qi-Zheng Ong is a GP trainee of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He was born in Singapore and moved to Adelaide at the young age of 10. Dr Ong graduated from the University of Adelaide Medical School in 2018 and has spent the last four years working across various hospitals in Adelaide, rural South Australia, as well as in Canberra. He has experience predominantly in trauma and emergency medicine, but takes interest in all areas of general practice.

Dr Shadrack Angwenyi completed his medical degree in 2006 at University of Adelaide. He has worked throughout rural and metropolitan communities in SA and NSW. He has had experience in emergency medicine, paediatrics, psychiatry and radiology. Dr Shadrack’s special interests include mental health, paediatrics and dermatology, and enjoys the challenge of working with patients who have complex medical issues.

Dr Paul Bullen undertook his medical training at James Cook University and has gained experience in multiple areas throughout his training in Adelaide and Brisbane including: ENT, musculoskeletal medicine, skin cancer medicine, radiology, emergency medicine and general surgery.

Dr WJ (Bill) Monkhouse was born and raised in South Australia, and graduated from University of Adelaide Medical School in 1995. He worked as a Senior Practitioner for 25 years in multiple regional and rural emergency rooms across Australia including 5 years offshore on working vessels. Dr Monkhouse holds Membership of Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers. His special interest is procedural medicine, and has high level of expertise in simple surgical procedures, orthopaedics, ophthalmology and paediatrics.

Hien Lam graduated from the University of South Australia in 2016 where he completed a Bachelor of Podiatry. Hien has a strong interest for musculoskeletal foot and ankle pathologies, diabetes foot care and ingrown toenail surgeries. Hien has also had extra training in foot mobilisation therapy. Hien’s interests outside of work include reading books and spending time at the gym.

Cecilia Leung graduated from Flinders University with a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics degree. Cecilia has been providing clinical nutrition advice in private practice and community based nutrition services.

Cecilia’s special interests include chronic disease management such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease, food allergies/intolerance and weight management. She is passionate about providing a personalised and holistic approach to help patients in improving their health and wellbeing through nutrition.

When Cecilia is not working, she loves exploring different parts of South Australia and travelling.
